GREENWOOD, Ind. – Indiana University Northwest women's basketball standout Jessica Carrothers has been named to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, as announced by the CSC organization. This marks the second Academic All-District selection of Carrothers' career.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both athletically and academically, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and demonstrate elite athletic performance. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
A Criminal Justice major, Carrothers has established herself as both a top performer in the classroom and on the hardwood. She is a two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Academic selection.
Carrothers had another dominant season for the RedHawks, earning CCAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors. She led the NAIA in scoring, averaging 31.4 points per game, while also contributing 6.1 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 3.6 steals per contest. The junior guard topped the CCAC in points and steals, making 359 field goals and 151 free throws while totaling 101 steals.
On the national level, Carrothers finished the season ranked first in scoring, third in steals per game, and 21st in assists. Her stellar play helped lead IU Northwest to a 23-8 overall record and an at-large berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions – NCAA I, II, and III, and NAIA. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
IU Northwest women's basketball reached the NAIA National Tournament for the third time in program history, earning the 10-seed in the Liston Quadrant and facing 7-seed Florida Memorial in the opening round.
