Hard Rock Northern Indiana Recap: RedHawks Draw Saint Ambrose 1-1 in Back-and-Forth Affair

CROWN POINT, Ind. - The Indiana University Northwest Men's Soccer team (0-9-3, 0-1-3) hosted Saint Ambrose University (0-6-2, 0-3) at the Sparta Dome Tuesday night for a CCAC clash with both teams looking for a late push at a postseason bid.

The first half was even for the first 35 minutes of the match with both teams having a fair share of scoring opportunities. In the 35th minute, the Fighting Bees were awarded a free kick in RedHawk territory. Defender David Sanchez-Teba seized the opportunity taking the free kick and blasting it in the top right corner of the goal putting the Bees up 1-0 with ten minutes left in the first half. The Bees would hang on to the lead and take a 1-0 to the second half.

There was a change in pace of play to start the second half as both teams increase their urgency to get a victory. The RedHawks would finally breakthrough in the 55th minute of the match when Avione Lane found the back of the net off a rebound and evened the match. The goal was Lane's first of the season.

The score would remain tied for the remainder of the match. Goalkeeper Devun Collins recorded six saves on the match, diving and saving multiple shots from the Bees.

The RedHawks had an opportunity late in the match as Avione Lane almost added another goal after being played a ball from forward Trevon Hamilton. Lane's shot soared over the crossbar.

IU Northwest would add another point in the CCAC standings, and their overall record moved to 0-9-4 and 0-1-4 in the conference. The RedHawks will be back in action next when they travel to Joliet, Illinois to face the University of St. Francis. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CDT.
