Box Score EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - With the regular season coming to an end and the RedHawks not currently in a top eight spot, every match is crucial. The RedHawks entered the match in 9
th place in the CCAC, while the Crimson Wave entered the match in 12
th and in search of their first win and points of the season.
IU Northwest immediately put the Crimson Wave on the defensive, totaling 19 shots in the first half, with 12 on target. Despite this offensive onslaught, the RedHawks led only 1-0 at halftime, thanks to
Brynn Nylin's first goal of the season in the 32nd minute.
The second half was dominated by the RedHawks, who added eight more goals and took another 17 shots, with 12 again on target. For the match, the RedHawks totaled 36 shots and 24 on net. Seven different players scored for the RedHawks, with
Zoey Wells and
Marisa Paredes being the only repeat scorers. Other goal scorers included
Abigail Heintz,
Gianna Witte,
Marisa Paredes,
Allison Farmer, and
Xiomara Santana.
This win puts the RedHawks back in the CCAC tournament picture, now in eighth place with 10 points and an overall record of 6-8-2, including a 3-5-1 conference record.
The RedHawks will be back in action on Saturday, October 26, when they travel to Elgin, Illinois, for a crucial matchup against Judson University. They are currently tied for eighth place in the CCAC. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CDT.
