Box Score CHICAGO – Zoey Wells scored a second half goal for the Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team, but it wasn't enough as the RedHawks fell at Saint Xavier 2-1 Saturday afternoon in CCAC play.
Through the first 27 plus minutes of action, both teams had looks at the goal, but it was IUN (1-1-4, 0-1-0), who had the first two shots on target. After a RedHawks foul, SXU (3-0-2. 1-0-0) scored the first points of the day to go up 1-0 in the 29
th minute.
Moments later
, Isabel Escalera made her first of five stops of the day, but after another IUN foul the Cougars would go up 2-0, which is where the score would remain going into the break.
Over the first 15 minutes of second half play,
Olivia Hansen and
Kendal Ziel each took shots that landed on target. However, following a failed clear by the Cougars on Ziel's shot Wells took the opportunity and buried her shot.
Late in the closing minutes of the match,
Emily Valdivia, and
Kelly Landry each tried to hit the equalizer, but the RedHawks were once again turned away.
IUN returns to action Tuesday afternoon when it travels to Trinity Christian for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
