GARY, Ind. – This week is the season openers for the Indiana University Northwest men's and women's soccer teams, while volleyball plays an exhibition match against Purdue Northwest and then travels Huntington Saturday evening.

5 p.m. – Women's Soccer at IUPU Columbus (Cancelled)
Thursday, Aug. 24
7 p.m. – Purdue Northwest at Volleyball (exhibition)
Friday, Aug. 25
4 p.m. – Men's soccer at Great Lakes Christian
5:30 p.m. –Lawrence Tech at Women's soccer
Saturday, Aug. 26
5 p.m. – Volleyball at Huntington
Men's soccer
After a pair of exhibition games, the RedHawks start the regular season Friday on the road when they travel Great Lakes Christian. The Crusaders play an exhibition contest against Jackson before welcoming IUN to Lansing, Mich.
A season ago, the RedHawks and GLCC combined to scored 14 goals, fire 55 shots with 32 of those landing on target.
Francisco Torres tallied four goals for IUN in that game last season, while
Dom Bixeman hit the back of the net twice.
Women's Soccer
The RedHawks season opener at IUPU Columbus has been cancelled in abundance of caution due to the extreme heat wave moving through Indiana this week. IUN begins the year Friday in Crown Point against Lawrence Tech starting at 5:30 p.m.
This is the first meeting between RedHawks and Blue Devils with both squads looking to bounce back from their 2022 season.
Volleyball
After starting the regular slate last weekend, IUN hosts Purdue Northwest in an exhibition game Thursday. The first 150 RedHawk students and parents attending Thursdays match will receive a free personal pizza from Aurelio's.
Following the tilt against PNW, IUN hits the road to play Huntington on Saturday. The RedHawks won the matchup last season in four sets as
Erica Packwood collected 11 kills and had six total blocks.
