CHICAGO – Ladaion Barnes scored 15 points off the bench for the sixth seeded Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team, but number two seed Saint Xavier grabbed the 72-59 victory in the semifinals of the CCAC Tournament Thursday night.
 
With the loss, the 2022-23 season concludes for the RedHawks at 14-16 and will get back to work in the fall.
 
Barnes hit the first field goal of the evening for IUN when he drained one of his four three's four minutes into the contest. The Cougars and RedHawks would trade buckets for the next several minutes and Jared Johnson scored down low to tie the game at 10 all.
 
SXU, however, would go on a quick 9-0 spurt to take control of the remaining first half as it would go into halftime up 37-28.
 
During second half play, the Cougars built a lead of 13 (52-39), but the RedHawks fought back and got within eight when Brian Hernandez scored from the corner. IUN could not draw any closer and were outscored 11-6 over the final five minutes.
 
Isaac Stanback led the RedHawks with 16 points, while Johnson tickled the twine for 12 and pulled down seven rebounds.
