Box Score JOLIET, Ill. -- The Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team will head into the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with a 11 game winning streak as the RedHawks concluded the regular season with a 74-61 victory against St. Francis (Ill.) at the Pat Sullivan Center Saturday. The RedHawks will now host the CCAC Tournament Quarterfinals as the No. 3 seed and take on No. 6 seed either Lincoln or Judson at the Savannah Center Wednesday. GAME RECAP
Jared Johnson and VaShawn Sims made back-to-back threes to start the game. USF responded with six points in a row to make it 6-all.
Both teams traded baskets then USF would hang onto a small lead. IU Northwest led 12-10 then the Fighting Saints responded with five straight points.
St. Francis (Ill.) went up 22-16 with 10:26 left in the first half. The RedHawks responded with a layup by Jason Peace and a three-pointer by Jerron Tatum which made it 22-21.
The Fighting Saints went up 34-29 with 2:58 left remaining in the half. IU Northwest went on a 8-1 run to close out the half after baskets by Peace and Damond Crosby which gave the RedHawks a 37-35 lead.
IU Northwest started the second half with back-to-back baskets by Tromon Weston and Johnson which made it 41-35. Moments later, Brian Hernandez hit a layup and a three-pointer which made it 49-40 IU Northwest 14:35 left in the game.
The Fighting Saints called timeout then Hernandez made another three-pointer and Crosby hit a layup to make it 54-40 with 13:02 left to go in the game. USF scored seven points in a row to cut it back down to 54-47 IUN.
Both teams traded two straight three pointers then St. Francis (Ill.) cut it down to 58-54 IU Northwest with under eight minutes left. Marshaud Watkins made a jumper and made a slam dunk which extended it back out to 65-56 with 3:38 in the game.
Crosby and Johnson made baskets to make it 71-59 with under 90 seconds left. IU Northwest held on to win the game 74-61.
