Men's Basketball Comes Back and Downs Cardinal Stritch Saturday

GARY, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest men's basketball came back from down 10 points as the RedHawks won a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Cardinal Stritch, 88-79, at the Savannah Center, Saturday.

GAME RECAP
Both teams traded two baskets a piece to make it 4-all early on. Stritch went on a 17-7 run to make it 21-11 with 11:43 to play in the half.

Jason Peace put the RedHawks back in the game after scoring four straight points which were a jumper and a pair of free throws. Jerron Tatum made a pair of baskets and Damond Crosby hit a three-pointer to make it 23-22 in favor of Cardinal Stritch with 8:22 left in the half.

The Wolves responded with a basket then IU Northwest got it right back after Marshaud Watkins made a pair of layups then Ryan LaFollette hit a three-pointer to give the RedHawks a 29-25 lead. Cardinal Stritch got a basket right back then the RedHawks responded with buckets by Watkins and Tromon Weston made it 33-27. 

Stritch scored eight unanswered points to go ahead 35-33 with 2:36 left to play in the half. Tatum responded right away with a three-pointer to give the RedHawks back the lead. 

Jimmie Washington and Jared Johnson made buckets towards the end of the first half. Cardinal Stritch led at the break 41-40.

Cardinal Stritch started the second half with a three-pointer then Alex Constandars responded right back with one of his own. The Wolves went on a 6-2 run to go up 51-45 at the 17:45 mark. 

Tyler Houston bounced back and hit a three-pointer to cut it back to three (51-48). Stritch would hold onto their lead and go ahead 65-60 with 11:11 left in the contest. 

Moments later, Peace converted a three-point play to make it 65-63 in favor of the Wolves. Peace gave IU Northwest a 72-71 lead after making back-to-back layups with 6:17 left in the game.

The score was tied 76-all with 4:15 left then the RedHawks scored 12 unanswered points to put IU Northwest ahead 88-76. Tatum and VaShawn Sims made three-pointers, Tatum hit a bucket then Weston slammed down back-to-back dunks.

Cardinal Stritch hit a three-pointer late but did not mean anything. IU Northwest won the contest 88-79.
