IU Northwest Women's Soccer Drops Close Match to Huntington Thursday

CROWN POINT, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team was able to shutout Huntington for the first half but the Foresters scored two goals in the second half to capture the 2-0 victory at the Crown Point Sportsplex Thursday.

HALF BREAKDOWN

First Half: Huntington 0, IU Northwest 0

  • Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the first half.
  • Huntington had five shots on goal total in the opening half but Mackenzie Rooke picked up all saves.
  • IU Northwest had a few attack chances but Huntington stopped the RedHawks from getting a shot off.

Second Half: Huntington 2, IU Northwest 0

  • Huntington got on the scoreboard in the 70th after Ashtyn Patrick found the back of the net from the pass from Megan Smith.
  • Moments later, the Foresters doubled their lead in the 81st minute after Patrick threw it into Kalaina Stephens passed it into Reagan Sanderson.
  • Katherin Vargas looked to cut the lead in half in the 87th minute but Huntington was right there with the save.

  • IU Northwest will be back in action Saturday, September 11 as the RedHawks travel for its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener against Olivet Nazarene starting at 7 p.m. CT.
