Box Score EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - The Indiana University Northwest women's soccer team was unable to come up with the victory with a valiant effort on the road against Calumet St. Joseph with the Crimson Wave coming out on top, 1-0, Wednesday.

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Calumet College 0, IU Northwest 0
- MacKenzie Rainwater wasted no time after the opening kickoff in the first minute as she went on the attack but her shot attempt went wide.
- Calumet College looked to strike first after getting a pair of shot attempts but the Crimson Wave were unable to find the back of the net.
- Nicole Melton tried to make it 1-0 RedHawks in the 18th minute but her shot went wide to keep it scoreless.
- Moments later, Carissa Urra went on the attack but the opposing goalkeeper made the save.
- The RedHawks looked to score right before the half in the 38th minute after Marisa Paredes had a shot attempt but it was saved.
- Both teams went into the halftime break tied 0-0.
Second Half: Calumet College 1, IU Northwest 0
- The Crimson Wave were aggressive to start the second half after getting off two shot attempts in the first six minutes of the half but Kelly Shaffer, who made her first start in goal this season recorded a pair of saves.
- Brooke Durkin was trying to break the scoreless tie in the 66th minute but her shot went wide.
- Paredes tried again in the 72nd minute but her shot hit the crossbar.
- Melton went on the attack again this time in the 78th minute but Calumet's goalie picked up the save.
- A few minutes later, Katherin Vargas had a chance to break through but her shot was saved.
- Calumet College was able to capitalize this time in the 85th minute after Mackenzie Pickens found the back of the net to give the Crimson Wave a 1-0 lead.
- That score would hold up as CCSJ won the match 1-0.

- Freshman Kelly Shaffer started her first match as goalkeeper for the RedHawks, recorded seven saves during the game.
