GAME RECAP
IU Northwest started off with a 9-2 run capped off by a layup from Brian Hernandez. Olivet Nazarene responded with back-to-back layups to cut the IUN lead to four.
Jared Johnson got the next basket to extend it back to six points. The Tigers bounced back for a 6-0 run to tie the contest at 11-all with 14:33 left.
Jerron Tatum hit a three-pointer and Johnson made a basket to make it 16-11 IU Northwest. Jason Peace was able to extend the RedHawk lead to 20-13.
ONU made another run to cut it back down to one (20-19) with 10:50 left in the half. Larry Lynch and Damond Crosby hit back-to-back layups to make it 24-19 IU Northwest.
The Tigers hit back-to-back threes to grab their first lead (25-24) of the night with 8:14 remaining in the half. The RedHawks bounced back nicely by scoring seven straight after a three-pointer and a basket by Tatum and a layup by Johnson made it 31-25 with 5:38 left in the half.
Moments later, IU Northwest made it a double-digit lead (37-27) after back-to-back threes by Marshaud Watkins and Johnson. Moments later, Johnson made it 43-33 before ONU made a 9-0 run then Johnson knocked one down from three-point land to make it 46-42 at the break.
The Tigers started out the second half with a basket then Johnson converted an and-one to make it 49-44. Back-to-back layups by Hernandez and Johnson extended the lead back out to nine hours (55-46).
Tatum and Watkins hit back-to-back threes to make it 61-47 IU Northwest with 16:15 left in the game. ONU responded with the ensuing basket then Jason Peace joined the RedHawks three-point shooting after making one from downtown.
Back-to-back threes by Tyler Houston and Tatum put the game away as it gave IU Northwest a 76-62 lead under 10 minutes left. Moments later, Tatum gave the RedHawks their biggest lead of the game (83-66) after making a layup with 7:07 left in the game.
It was too late for ONU to come back as the Tigers looked to fight back but Peace put the exclamation point on the game after making a slam dunk to make it 85-72 under five minutes left. IU Northwest ended up winning the game 94-81.
