Watkins Leads Men's Basketball Past Judson for 1st CCAC Win of Year

GARY, Ind. -- Senior Marshaud Watkins led all scorers with 23 points which helped the Indiana University Northwest men's basketball team win their first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest of the season against Judson Saturday. In all, the RedHawks had four players reach double figures in the victory.

GAME RECAP
Judson opened up the game with a 10-2 advantage.  Back-to-back threes by Damond Crosby and Jerron Tatum got the RedHawks right back in the contest. 

The Eagles responded right away to go back up 17-10. IU Northwest would not back down as Watkins hit a three-pointer and Brian Hernandez made a layup to make it 17-15 Judson. 

Watkins and Jerron Tatum made back-to-back threes to give the RedHawks a 25-19 lead with 7:05 left in the half. Larry Lynch and Watkins hit back-to-back baskets for a 32-23 advantage. 

Judson responded with four straight points. Watkins bounced back and made a three-pointer from downtown to give the RedHawks a 35-27 lead at the break.

Hernandez nailed a three-pointer to make it 44-34 at the 16:32 mark. Judson went on a 13-0 run the next three minutes to go up 47-44. 

Tatum ended the RedHawks drought after making a basket. Moments later, IU Northwest made a run after Tatum made it 60-53 with 7:16 left in the game. 

The Eagles looked to come back but Hernandez responded with another three to pull ahead 63-56. The RedHawks held onto the advantage the rest of the way and won 72-64.

UP NEXT
IU Northwest will be back in action Wednesday, November 17 for their third straight home CCAC game as the RedHawks host Lincoln starting at 7:30 p.m. CT inside the Savannah Center.
