Box Score Crown Point, Ind. -- Freshman Anthony Mako (Highland, Ind./Highland) scored his first career goal at Indiana University Northwest but it was not enough as the RedHawks were unable to overcome the scoring flurry by the Trinity International Trojans Tuesday.
The Trojans captured the victory over the RedHawks, 6-1, at the Crown Point Sportsplex Tuesday.
TIU wasted no time as Josiah Fox scored a goal in the opening two minutes of the match to go ahead 1-0.
Fox was able to find open man this time as he passed it ahead to Jorge Vasquez in the 10th minute for the goal to up 2-0.
Later on in the first half, the same thing happened as Vasquez was found by Fox in the 26th minute for his second goal of the night to pull ahead 3-0. That score would hold at halftime as the Trojans led 3-0.
After assisting on an earlier goal, Tyler Kooi was able to find an opening to make it 4-0 after receiving the ball from Caleb Wells to score a goal.
Vasquez secured a hat trick not even four minutes later to put the Trojans up 5-0 after getting the pass from Fox.
Fox recorded his second goal of the night in the 63rd minute to give TIU a 6-0 advantage.
Freshman Matt Mazur (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) had a corner kick in the 83rd minute then Mako was right there to head it in for his first goal of the season to make it 6-1 Trojans. That score would hold as TIU won 6-1.
Freshman Maxwell Higgins (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) recorded four saves for the RedHawks in the loss.
IUN Men's Soccer returns to the field Saturday, September 21 as the RedHawks welcome Cornerstone University at the Crown Point Sportsplex starting at 5 p.m. CT.
