Box Score Goshen, Ind. -- The Indiana University Northwest men's soccer team lost their match against Goshen College, 6-0, at the Ingold Athletic Complex, Saturday.
Goshen went ahead 1-0 in the 14th minute after Christian Saleh scored a goal. Lukas Bontreger gave the Maple Leafs a 2-0 lead after scoring in the 23rd minute.
The Maple Leafs expanded the lead to 3-0 in the 33rd minute after Bontreger picked up his second goal of the half.
IUN looked to get on the scoreboard before the half as freshman Will Carroll (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) was on the attack and got off a shot attempt in the 35th minute but it was saved by the goalkeeper.
Goshen picked up a penalty kick goal in the 36th minute to go ahead 4-0 before the half.
Sophomore Jacob Damski (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) was trying to break free and got off a shot attempt the goalkeeper was right there with the save.
Henrique Eichenberger made it 5-0 Maple Leafs in the 67th minute after his free kick went in. Bontreger secured a hat trick in the 82th minute after recieving the ball from Matt Granitz off a corner kick.
Sophomore Sebastian Alferez (Chicago, Ill.) tried to cut into the deficit in the 77th minute but his shot went wide. Late in the match Carroll tried to put one through the net but the goalkeeper was right there for the save.
Freshman Maxwell Higgins (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) recorded eight saves in the loss.
IUN Men's Soccer returns to the field Tuesday, September 17 as the RedHawks host Trinity International starting at 8 p.m. CT.
