Carroll Scores First-Ever Goal As Men's Soccer Falls to Roosevelt

Crown Point, Ind. -- Freshman Will Carroll (Griffith, Ind./Griffith) scored the first-ever goal in Indiana University Northwest men's soccer history in the 78th minute after receiving the ball from freshman Vincent Lopez (Portage, Ind./Portage), who recorded the assist but unfortunately the Roosevelt Lakers (1-1) defeated the RedHawks (0-2), 10-1, at the Crown Point Sportsplex, Saturday evening.

Early in the match, freshman Evan Witham (Valparaiso, Ind./Wheeler HS) went on the attack and had a shot attempt but it went wide of the net.

Goalkeeper freshman Maxwell Higgins (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo HS) recorded 15 saves for the RedHawks in the setback. 

Carroll also led the team with two shots, both were on goal and including the goal. The freshman had other shots in the 20th minute and then the goal came in the 78th minute. 

Freshman E.J. Salazar (Gary, Ind./Hammond Baptist HS) recorded a shot in the 44th minute. 

Dylan Brann (Munster, Ind./Munster HS) tried to get Indiana Northwest on the scoreboard but the freshman's shot went wide.

IUN returns to action and at home Saturday, August 31 as the Redhawks take on Governors State starting at 7:30 p.m. CT at the Crown Point Sportsplex.
